New Quay Boat Trips

New Quay Boat Trips - one hour
Our RIB for one hour boat trips

If you take a boat trip from New Quay, you will see some of the spectacular Ceredigion Marine Heritage Coast, which is recognised for its unspoilt character, as well as its wildlife.

A variety of boat trips are available from our base in New Quay.

  • Unique guided one hour boat trip aboard our Rib ‘Orca’
  • 1.5 hours, 2 hours, 4 hours or all day research surveys aboard our 10m hard boats Sulaire and Anna Lloyd, with volunteers from the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre joining us to collect valuable data on the marine life encountered during our trips.

We have been running New Quay boat trips since 1996, so we have a lot of experience, as well as respect for the wildlife we encounter.

Owner/skipper, Steve Hartley, has over 35 years professional boating experience. He was the founder of the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre. He was also involved in establishing the Cardigan Bay Special Area of Conservation.

We know the habits and usual locations of the Cardigan Bay dolphins and other marine mammals. And, although we cannot guarantee sitings of dolphins, there is usually plenty of other wildlife to see.

We regularly see harbour porpoise and Atlantic grey seals, as well as a wide variety of marine birds, such as razorbills and guillemots. There are also regular visitors to the waters around New Quay, which include sunfish, basking sharks and leatherback turtles.

We don’t pack people onto our boat trips like sardines so you will have plenty of room to move around, take photos, and enjoy the fantastic scenery of Cardigan Bay.

The limited number of passengers (only 12) mean that you have a chance to tap into the unique expertise of the skipper to answer your questions about the wildlife and scenery.

Our New Quay boat trips usually follow a set route within the Cardigan Bay Special Area of Conservation. A  researcher from Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre joins each boat trip and records the boat’s position and environmental information, as well as sightings data of large marine animals on a series of survey forms.

Your eco-tourism experience helps this important research.
